What Is Reiki?

“Reiki” (ray-key) is Japanese for ‘universal life energy, and is also a word used to describe a system of natural healing, This tradition was rediscovered by Dr Mikao Usui in the early 20th century and is taught by Reiki Masters / Teachers who have trained in the tradition passed on in person from master to student. Helen is 12th in a line of direct descending Masters from Dr Usui.

What Is Seichem?

Seichem (pronounced say-keem) is another variation of Reiki, with hands placed on the body, but in addition hands may be working in the aura which surrounds the body. It is reputedly one of the healing arts practised in ancient Egypt. Reiki is one of the four elemental rays which make up Seichem - earth (Reiki), water, air and fire.

We can all feel overwhelmed or disconnected, sometimes there is a real sense of isolation, both emotionally and energetically. Receiving Reiki can bring feelings of calm, a peaceful sense of well being on all levels and an ability to cope better with the challenges of life.

Reiki treatment

Receiving Reiki is simple, human clients remain fully clothed and lie on a couch or sit on a chair and relax. Horses can be in their field or stable, wherever they are happy. I gently place my hands in a series of non-intrusive positions on or near the body. There is no massage or manipulation.

Reiki for injuries

Reiki is ideal whilst recovering from injury, it is NOT a cure nor will it heal but it helps the body to heal itself. Everyone heals at a different rate, however, from personal experience after breaking my Tibia and Fibula in 2019 my injury did heal quickly, and very well. At my final meeting with the surgeon who operated on me, he was surprised at how well I had healed and how much flexibility I had at that stage of healing.

**Reiki practitioners are not trained in diagnosis, if you are concerned about any symptoms you, your horse or dog may have, then please speak to your doctor or vet.

What do Reiki treatments feel like?

Each person experiences Reiki differently depending on their individual needs at the time, you, your horse or dog may or may not feel sensations while receiving Reiki however some people feel sensations of heat, tingling, or experience seeing colours, whilst others can have an emotional response, indicating that shifts are taking place, allowing harmony to be restored.

You or your horse may feel tired after Reiki so it is advisable to keep hydrated and not undertake any strenuous activity immediately after a session. Many clients report feeling deep relaxation which promotes a calm, peaceful sense of well being on all levels.

How much Reiki would I need?

A single session may be sufficient, if you have long standing emotional or physical issues, a series of sessions may be beneficial this is also applicable to your horse or dog. In general if you find that helpful changes are taking place, it is a good idea to continue receiving Reiki.
